Symposium News The 45th Annual Symposium will be held November 7-8, 2008. Schedule information is now available. A special early bird registration rate is available to those who register for the conference by September 8th. Our Distinguished Guest Lecturers are Dorothy L. Cheney, PhD and Robert M. Seyfarth, PhD. Dr. Cheney is a professor of biology and Dr. Seyfarth is a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. They are the authors of How Monkeys See the World and the recently published Baboon Metaphysics: The Evolution of a Social Mind, the fruit of fifteen years living with baboons in their native habitat. Family Systems Journal goes to Press The most recent issue of the Journal has gone to the printer. Articles include “The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: A Societal Emotional Process,” “The Multigenerational Transmission Process and the Neurobiology of Attachment and Stress,” and “Survival, Fusion, and Extreme Poverty.” The faculty case conference is entitled, “The Affair as a Stabilizer of the Marital Relationship.” A special feature of this journal is an article from the Archives by Don Jackson, MD entitled "Sick, Sad, Savage, and Sane." Dr. Bowen, a professor of psychiatry at Georgetown University, established the Georgetown Family Center
in 1975. He was a pioneer in family research who
developed a new theory of human behavior and a new
method of family therapy based on this new theory.
